In this activity, we will practise writing numbers using words.

To write a number in words, we need to think carefully about the place value of all the digits. 

Let's think about the number 687. 

The number has a 6 in the hundreds place, an 8 in the tens place and a 7 in the ones place. 

We can write this number in words as six hundred and eighty-seven.

Remember to take care when writing numbers in words when there are zeros in the number.

So, the number 820 has a zero in the ones place. 

This means we write the number as eight hundred and twenty because there are no ones.
