In this activity, we will be learning about how to solve time problems such as how to find out what time something ends, or how long it takes.

 

Example

Jack went to the shop at 9:30.  

He came back half an hour later.

 

Analogue clock showing half past nine, or nine thirty.

 

At what time did he come back?

 

Answer

Jack comes back at 10:00.

 

Half an hour is 30 minutes.

The time shown on the clock is 9:30, or half-past nine.

 

He went to the shops and came back half an hour later, which means he was out for 30 minutes. 

Half an hour, or 30 minutes after 9:30 is 10:00.
