A whole rectangle can be split into five fiths as shown.

This means that 15 fifths is the same as 3 whole rectangles or 3 wholes.

It's not too hard to understand when you can see it, is it?

Above, we had three lots of five. How are you with your five or your three times tables?

5 x 3 = 15

15 ÷ 5 = 3

Suddenly, it becomes much easier to work it out, doesn't it?
