A noun is a word that describes a person, animal, place or thing. Nouns that describe something that you can see, hear, smell, touch or taste are called concrete nouns.

For example:

soldier

thunder

ice cream

camel

Some nouns describe things that you can't see, hear, smell, touch or taste. These are called abstract nouns.

For example:

love

anger

bravery

success

In this worksheet you can practise deciding whether nouns are concrete or abstract.
