The words Squared and Square Root are opposites.

You should know that 0.3 squared = 0.09 because 0.3 x 0.3 = 0.09

We write this as 0.3² = 0.09

And so the square root of 0.09 = 0.3

We write this as √0.09 = 0.3

Example

Work out √0.49 and √0.0001

Answer

√0.49 = 0.7 because 0.7² = 0.49

 √0.0001 = 0.01 because 0.01² = 0.01 x 0.01 = 0.0001
