Materials are substances from which we make other things.
We make use of a huge variety of materials in many different ways to make the objects that we use everyday.
We use wood to make tables and chairs, wool to make clothes, metals to make cars, stone to make houses, and so on.
How do we decide which material to use for each job?
We choose our materials by looking at their properties.
Wood, for example, is a material with several properties that make it good to work with.
Can you think what some of them might be?
Lots of tables and chairs are made of wood.
