Remember that there are 1,000 metres in a kilometre.

So, given a distance in km, we multiply by 1,000 to convert this to m.

When multiplying by 1,000, we need to move all the digits three places to the left.

Remember that we never move the decimal point!

Examples:

6.2 km = 6.2 x 1,000 = 6,200 m

6.25 km = 6.25 x 1,000 = 6,250 m

6.025 km = 6.025 x 1,000 = 6,025 m

Does that look simple?
