New words can often be made by adding a suffix to the end of a root word.

 

For example:

quick + ly = quickly

wonder + ful = wonderful

Sometimes different suffixes can be added to the same root word to make several new words.

 

For example:

wonderful     wonderment

careful     careless

kindly   kindness

 

In this activity,  you can investigate which words can be made by adding suffixes to root words. You may need to use a dictionary to check whether the words exist or not!
