Starting at 0 we can count up in 1,000s like this:
0 1,000 2,000 3,000 4,000 5,000 6,000 7,000 8,000 9,000 10,000 11,000 12,000 ...
We add 1,000 to the previous number to get the next.
These are the multiples of 1,000.
Notice that they all end in 000.
Example
When we count up in 1,000s, what comes after 4,000?
Answer
Start with a multiple of 1,000 that you know.
1,000 2,000 3,000 4,000 5,000
Example
When we count up in 1,000s, what comes before 10,000?
Answer
List the multiples of 1,000 near 10,000
8,000 9,000 10,000 11,000 12,000
