In this activity, we will identify the correct shape.
Cube and cuboid
A cube has six square faces.
A cuboid has six faces, some of which are rectangles.
Prisms
Prisms have a flat base and faces that go straight up.
The top face is the same as the base.
A triangular prism has a triangular base and top, with upright faces.
A hexagonal prism has a hexagonal base and top, with upright faces.
N.B. A cube and a cuboid are also prisms, but don't count them as prisms in this activity. Give them their proper names.
Cylinder
A cylinder has a circular base and top, with upright faces.
Cone
A cone has a circular base and rises to a point.
Pyramid
A square-based pyramid has a square base and rises to a point.
Sphere
A sphere is like a round ball.
Hemisphere
A hemisphere is a sphere that has been cut exactly in half. It has a circular base.
