A verb is a doing or action word. Many verbs follow certain rules when we add endings to them. These are called regular verbs.
In this worksheet we are going to look at adding s, ed, and ing to different types of regular verbs.
For most verbs ending in y we need to change the verb before we add the endings.
carry carries carried carrying
The y changes to i before adding s or ed, but not before adding ing.
For many verbs ending in ss, zz, ch or sh the rule is different again.
hiss hisses hissed hissing
buzz buzzes buzzed buzzing
touch touches touched touching
wish wishes wished wishing
We have to add e before adding s, but not before adding ed or ing.
