Introduction
Prefixes are letters attached to the beginning of words. If we know the meaning of a prefix it can help us to understand words that we have not met before.
In this worksheet we will be looking at the following prefixes.
auto (meaning self)
Something that is automatic runs itself.
bi (meaning two)
A biplane has two sets of wings, one above the other.
circum (meaning around)
To circumnavigate the world means to travel right round the world.
tele (meaning distance)
A telescope allows people to see things a long distance away.
trans (meaning across)
A transatlantic voyage is a voyage across the Atlantic.
