In this activity, we will be looking at how to use our knowledge of place value to add three-digit numbers.
Example
Add the numbers together.
Answer
We split the two numbers into hundreds, tens and ones.
First, add the hundreds: 100 + 900 = 1,000
Next, add the tens: 50 + 60 = 110
Finally, add the ones: 8 + 1 = 9

So we now have 1,119 in the answer box.
Do you feel happy with that?
