Bertie walked to the park.
A verb is a doing word so walked is the verb in this sentence.
How might Bertie be walking to the park?
You may have come up with words like:
Quickly
Slowly
Happily
These are all adverbs.
Bertie quickly walked to the park.
Bertie walked slowly to the park.
Bertie walked to the park happily.
All of these adverbs tell us how something is done so we call them adverbs of manner.
Lots of adverbs of manner end in -ly.
Can you see how the adverb can come before or after the verb in our sentences?
Now, imagine someone singing.
How might they be singing?
Can you come up with some adverbs of manner to describe their singing.

Cheerfully

Sophie cheerfully sang in her bedroom.
Here, the adverb has been put before the verb 'sang'.
