In this activity, we will be rounding numbers to the nearest ten.
Remember: If the number in the ones place is 1, 2, 3 or 4, round down to the nearest ten!
If the number in the ones place is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9, round up to the nearest ten!
Example 1
Round 76 to the nearest ten.
76 is between 70 and 80.
The answer is 80 because in 76, the 6 in the ones place is more than 5, so round up to 80.
Example 2
Round 34 to the nearest ten.
34 is between 30 and 40.
There is a 4 in the ones place, so it rounds down to 30.
