Letters can be written for many different reasons. The type of words we use and the way we set out a letter depend on its purpose (why it is written) and audience (who it is for).
Read the following letter and then answer the questions in the activity. Remember that you can look back at the introduction as often as you like by clicking on the red help button.

Mr B. B. Wolf |
Dear Mr Wolf |
We are writing to you on behalf of our clients, Messrs Three Little Pigs, concerning damage you caused to two properties belonging to them. |
They claim that you huffed and you puffed and you blew their houses down, forcing them to live in cramped conditions. Please understand that if this harassment does not cease, we will have to take further action. |
On a separate matter, we must inform you that Miss Riding Hood is also concerned that you are occupying her grandmother's cottage and wearing her grandmother's clothes without her permission. Miss Riding Hood insists that you vacate the property immediately. |
Please give these matters your urgent attention. |
Yours sincerely |
