In this activity, we will use pictures to help us to subtract or take away.
Look at this picture:
Count all the rabbits:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
The whole group has 7 rabbits.
Count the group that is crossed out:
2 rabbits are crossed out.
Count the group that is left when we start with 7 and take away 2.
1 2 3 4 5
When you start with 7 and take away 2, you are left with 5.
There are 5 rabbits left.
7 - 2 = 5
