This activity is about working out change when you pay with coins.
Example
I give 50p to a shopkeeper.
How much change would I get if I buy three pens for 5p each?
Answer
Work out how much the pens cost:
3 × 5p = 15p
Then subtract this from the 50p you give the shopkeeper:
50p - 15p = 35p
Let's practise this in the questions so that you will know you're being given the correct change next time you go shopping!!
