Worksheet Overview

An adverb describes a verb (a 'doing' or 'action' word) and gives more information about how the verb is being carried out.

Using adverbs helps to make your writing more interesting.

For example: The cat waited impatiently for its meal while the dog slept peacefully.

It is a handy tip to remember that most adverbs end with the letters -ly.
