'Make Predictions Based on Pictures and Text' worksheet

Key stage:  KS 1

Year:  Year 2 English worksheets

Curriculum topic:   Reading: Comprehension

Curriculum subtopic:   Predict Outcomes While Reading

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

Making a prediction about something is just like making a sensible guess. We can use what we already know from a picture or piece of writing, to help us work out what we think might happen next.

Let's have a look at an example here:

Rose was getting ready in her mermaid outfit and Rex was putting on his astronaut helmet when their mum called to them from the bottom of the stairs, "It's time to go now!"

Where do you think Rose and Rex are going?

1) A swimming party

2) A fancy dress party

We can use clues from the text to help us make a prediction (sensible guess). We know that Rose and Rex are getting dressed up, so it is most likely that they are going to a fancy dress party rather than to a swimming one.

Let's practise making predictions.
