Several different suffixes make the sound shun.

 

For example:

extension    fiction    magician

 

The suffix 'tion' is usually used when the root word ends in 't' or 'te'.

For example, invent becomes invention.

 

The suffix 'cian' is common when the root word ends in 'c'. A lot of these words relate to people's occupations.

 

For example:

Someone who plays or writes music for a living = musician 

 

a musician
