Count in Steps of 100 and 1000

Starting at 0 we can count up in 100s like this:

 

0    100    200    300    400    500    600    700 ...

 

Example 1

When we count up in 100s, what comes before and after 520?

 

Answer

320    420    520    620

 

420 comes before. 

620 comes after.

 

When we start at 6, the numbers go up in 1000s like this:

 

6    1006    2006    3006    4006    5006    6006    7006    8006 ...

 

Example 2

When we count up in 1000s, what comes before 5708?

 

Answer

1708    2708    3708    4708    5708    6708    7708    8708

 

Answer is 4708.

 

When we start at 14 006, the numbers go up in 100s like this:

14 006    14 106    14 206    14 306    14 406   

 

And when we start at 14 006, the numbers go up in 1000s like this:

14 006    15 006    16 006    17 006    18 006
