Worksheet Overview

So, what is a skeleton? Do you have one? What's it for?

Well, first off, you're a human being and so you do have a skeleton!

The skeleton is your body's framework that supports and protects you. Without your skeleton, you would be a rather messy blob of jelly on the floor!

Believe it or not, bones are very hard - harder even than concrete! They have to be tough and strong because they carry the weight of your body.

These pictures show the main bones of your skeleton, such as your skull, ribs, leg bones and so on.  How many bones do you think you have?

Human skeleton

Did you know that an adult human has 206 bones?  That's a lot of bones!

So, now let's have a look at what bones and skeletons are all about.
