Worksheet Overview

How many types of electrical gadgets can you think of? Look around you right now and there will be so many!

Electrical circuits are used all the time in the world around us.

Let's look at a burglar alarm. This is a special circuit that watches over your house.

In a simple circuit set up, you can use a buzzer (alarm) and a switch with a power source and wires.

When the switch is closed, the alarm is activated because it completes the electrical circuit and the buzzer (alarm) makes a noise.

More advanced circuits might have a motion sensor that completes the circuit and activates the alarm.

The alarm lets off a loud noise and will hopefully scare the unwelcome visitor away.

In this activity, we will investigate the circuit of a burglar alarm.
