Write Alliterative Sentences

When two or more words begin with the same sound it is called alliteration.

For example:

The clown clattered and crashed in the kitchen.

It is the sound of the word that is important, not the letter, so the word kitchen is alliterative even though it begins with 'k' and the other words begin with 'c'.

Using alliteration in your writing can be very effective. It is often used in poetry, but also in other types of writing such as advertising.

In this worksheet you can practise writing alliterative sentences. You will be given a word and asked to write a sentence containing that word and at least two others beginning with the same sound.

For example:

Word: frog

Sentence: The frightened frog flopped into the water.
