Hi shape sorter.
Can you help us to find the relationship between the following shapes?
We are having difficulties spotting them.
Look at these two shapes:
Which of the shapes below would best fit in a group with these two shapes?
a) b) c) d) e)
First, we have to work out what the first two shapes have in common.
They both have two matching end shapes, either side of a middle shape. They are both presented vertically.
This means we need to look for a shape which has two identical shapes at the top and bottom, which is also presented vertically.
The only option which fits these criteria is shape b so this is our correct answer.
Let’s try another question.
Look at these two shapes:
Which of the shapes below would best fit in a group with these two shapes?
a) b) c) d) e)
First, we need to work out what the first two shapes have in common.
They are both made up of a triangle, a square and a rectangle. The triangle and rectangle both have the same shading and the shape is always organised in the order of: triangle, square, rectangle. The shapes are facing different directions so we don’t need to look for a matching direction.
We need to look for a shape in the options that also fits this same criteria.
The correct answer is c as it has a triangle and rectangle with matching shading and the shapes are in the correct order.
It’s now your turn to find the shape that best fits with another pair.
Pssstt! Here's a handy hint to help you reach superstar status: Make sure you count the number of sides and look out for patterns. |
Good luck matching shapes with their shape families!
