'Make Predictions From Pictures' worksheet

Key stage:  KS 1

Year:  Year 2 English worksheets

Curriculum topic:   Reading: Comprehension

Curriculum subtopic:   Predict Outcomes While Reading

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

Making a prediction about something is just like making a sensible guess. We can use what we already know from a picture or piece of writing, to help us work out what we think might happen next.

For example, have a look at this picture below:

girl wearing a backpack and summer dress

Where do you think this girl is going?

1) To play in the snow

2) To the beach

We can use clues from the picture to help us make a prediction (sensible guess) about this one. The little girl is wearing a summer dress and sandals, so it is more likely that she is going to the beach than out in the snow. If she were going out in the snow then she'd need warm clothes on!

Let's practise making predictions.
