'Understand How to Make Inferences from Pictures and Text' worksheet

Year:  Year 2 English worksheets

Curriculum topic:   Reading: Comprehension

Curriculum subtopic:   Make Inferences

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

When we are reading, we are often given clues to help us make inferences. When we make an inference, we are using what we already know from the pictures and the text to work out more information.

We can use our inference skills to work out information about a character based on what we already know about them.

Look at the character below:

teacher stood by a blackboard

What do you think her job is:

1) Astronaut

2) Teacher

The character is standing by a blackboard and holding a book. There are clues here that she is a teacher rather than an astronaut.

What do you think her name is:

1) Mrs Smith

2) Thomas

This character looks like a female teacher, so in the story she is probably called Mrs Smith.

Are you ready to have a go at looking for clues in the rest of the questions now?
