'Practise Making Inferences From Text' worksheet

Year:  Year 2 English worksheets

Curriculum topic:   Reading: Comprehension

Curriculum subtopic:   Make Inferences

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

When we are reading we constantly make inferences to help us understand the text as we go.

We use clues from the text, what we already know and pictures to help us work out things that have not been said in the text.

For example, let's look at this sentence:

Alex was looking very pale and holding on to his tummy.

Although the text hasn't used the words 'unwell', 'ill' or 'poorly', we can use what it has told us to work out that that is probably how he is feeling.

boy feeling sick

Let's have a go now at making inferences based on the clues we find in the text.
