Recognise and Match Subordinating Conjunctions

Subordinating conjunctions - what does that mean?

It’s simple really, subordinating conjunctions are used to join clauses together.

They are little words that tie two things together, like this:

I am very tired because I went to bed late.

They didn’t win the competition until they got a new team mate.

Some subordinating conjunctions will be at the beginning of the sentence like this:

 

Although it is sunny outside, I want to read my book inside.

Or

Since it is nearly the end of the day, let’s go outside and play.

In this activity, we will practise recognising subordinating conjunctions and using them to join main clauses and subordinating clauses together.
