Worksheet Overview

We often need to put words in alphabetical order. Dictionaries are arranged in alphabetical order, and so are the index pages of information books. Your class register may be called in alphabetical order.

It is useful to know the alphabet off by heart so that we can find words quickly.

These animal names are easy to put in alphabetical order because they all begin with different letters.

cheetah

elephant

giraffe

lion

If the words begin with the same letter then we have to look at the second letter.

panda

penguin

porpoise

puffin
