In this activity, we will be learning how to divide fractions by other fractions.

We can do this by following some simple steps!

Remember: **Keep, Flip and Change!**

**KFC**

No, not that sort of KFC.

Read on and we'll show you!

Let's try dividing a pair of fractions:** 1/2 ÷ 2/3**

Step 1: **Keep** the first fraction the same.

1/2 stays as 1/2

Step 2: **Flip** the second fraction.

2/3 becomes 3/2

Step 3: **Change** the operation from divide to multiply.

So, our equation will look like this: **1/2 × 3/2**

To multiply the fractions, we simply multiply the numerators and the denominators.

**1/2 x 3/2 = 3/4**

**3/4 **cannot be simplified so this our **final answer**.

Let's try an example question together.

**Example**

Work out the following.

1/9 ÷ 1/4 = __

**Answer**

First, we do KFC - keep, flip and change.

**1/9 ÷ 1/4 **will become **1/9 × 4/1**

Then we multiply.

**1/9 × 4/1 = 4/9**

**4/9 **cannot be simplified any further, so this is our final answer.

Now it's time to try some of these questions yourself.
