'Interpret the Calculator Display' worksheet

Key stage:  KS 3

Year:  Year 7 Maths worksheets

Curriculum topic:   Number

Curriculum subtopic:   Use Calculators/Technology for Accuracy

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

In this activity, we are going to use our calculator for calculations.

purple calculator

We can use a calculator to speed up calculations, but we need to be able to interpret the answer given!

Example

£3.15 x 2 = £6.30

our calculator will give us 6.3   (Try it!)

We need to know that this means £6.30 (as we round money to 2 decimal places) and not £6.03!

What about time?

How do we put 2 hours 30 mins into the calculator?

Is it 2.3?

Well, no because half of an hour is 0.5, so we enter 2.5.

Let's do some questions so we can practise this!
