Worksheet Overview

Humans, just like plants and animals, have certain things they need to stay healthy and happy.

These are called basic needs.

Imagine a tree - you might know that it needs water, sunlight and soil to grow big and strong. Well, people have their own special needs too.

Water - we need water to drink.  Water helps our bodies to stay hydrated and do all the amazing things they can do like running, jumping and playing. Water is like fuel for our bodies.

Food - we need food for energy.  It's like putting the petrol in a car so it can move. We need food to keep our bodies moving and growing. Eating healthy food like fruit and vegetables helps us to stay strong.

Air - we need air to breathe.  You know how you take big breaths when you run around? That is because your body needs air to keep going.  When we breathe, our lungs take oxygen from the air - it is like a superpower fuel for our bodies.
