420 comes before. 620 comes after.

 

When we start at 6, the numbers go up in 1000s like this:

Example 2

When we count up in 1000s, what comes before 5708?

 

Answer

Answer is 4708.

 

When we start at 14 006, the numbers go up in 100s like this:

And when we start at 14 006, the numbers go up in 1000s like this:
