Understand Synonyms

A synonym is a word that means the same (or almost the same) thing as another word.

for example:

Little and small are synonyms.

A thesaurus is a book that looks like a dictionary, but instead of giving the definitions of words it gives synonyms and similar words.

A thesaurus can be very useful when you are trying to use more powerful words in your writing. If you have one you may find it helpful for this worksheet.
