Worksheet Overview

We can use different tenses when we are writing.

I kick the ball - this is written in the simple present tense.  We use this tense for things that are happening now.

I kicked the ball - this is written in the simple past tense.  We use this tense for events that started and ended in the past.

In this activity, we are going to practise using the present perfect tense.

The present perfect tense is used to write or talk about events that began in the past but that are still happening, or are still true, now.

I have finished my dinner.

He has lived next door for five years.

The puppy has grown a lot!

As you can see, to use this tense, we need to use the word have or has, along with the past participle (eg finished) of the verb in the sentence.
