Worksheet Overview

Using adverbs is a great way to extend your writing and make your meaning clear for the reader.

There are lots of different types of adverbs – you probably already know to look out for words that end in ‘ly’!

But did you know that adverbs can do specific jobs in a sentence?

Adverbs of possibility are adverbs which can help us to understand how likely something is to happen.

For example:

He is definitely going to make the cakes.

The word definitely is the adverb here and it shows us a high likelihood that something will happen.

fairy cake

It is unlikely that he will make the cakes.

The word unlikely is the adverb and shows that there is a much lower chance of something happening.

In this activity, you will see some examples of adverbs of possibility and practise using them.
