'Choose the Synonym' worksheet

Year:  Year 6 English worksheets

Curriculum topic:   Writing: Composition

Curriculum subtopic:   Grammar and Vocabulary Awareness

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

Some words in English mean the same thing or have a similar meaning as each other. We call these words synonyms.

mouse

a small mouse

a little mouse

The words small and little are synonyms as they mean the same thing.

We could also say 'a tiny mouse', which means almost the same thing but not quite. The word tiny means 'very small'.

In this activity, you can practise matching up words (synonyms) that mean the same, or almost the same, as each other.
