This activity is about addition of numbers with two decimal places in columns with carrying.

 

Example

Add the numbers together.

Answer

Make sure that you line up the decimal points.  

Start from the right (the hundredths place) and carry if necessary.

 

 

The answer is 256.81

 

Can you see that this is just the same as doing column addition with numbers that are not decimals? The only difference is that we need to remember to line up the decimal points when writing out the calculation, and include it in our answer!
