# Convert Between Measurements to Solve Problems

In this worksheet, students will solve problems involving calculating and converting measures.

Key stage:  KS 2

Curriculum topic:   Measurement

Curriculum subtopic:   Solve Conversion Problems

Difficulty level:

#### Worksheet Overview

In this activity, we're going to be solving problems involving calculating and converting different units of measure.

We'll be using mass, capacity, length, volume and time.

Information that will help - we need to know all of this information.

1,000 g = 1 kg

1,000 ml = 1 l

10 mm = 1 cm

100 cm = 1 m

1,000 m = 1 km

Volume is measured in cubic units (cm³, m³)

60 seconds = 1 minute

60 minutes = 1 hour

24 hours = 1 day

Let's look at an example of the type of question in this activity:

John has 600 g of apples and 250 g of bananas.

What is the total mass of the fruit in kg?

600 g + 250 g = 850 g

To convert from g to kg, we need to divide by 1,000

850 g ÷ 1,000 = 0.85 kg

The fruit has a mass of 0.85 kg

Now it's your turn - good luck!
