We used the word 'term'. Can you remember what a term is?
It is part of an expression, so for example 5 or y or 2e are all terms.
Together, if we want the sum of them, they form the expression: 5 + y + 2e
In this activity, we will be identifying terms and getting used to using them in expressions.
A typical question is like this:
Which of the expressions in the bubble are equivalent to 4y?
Answer
4y is made up of y + y + y + y
So we can say 2y + 2y or 3y + y
The others will not equal 4y.
