Multiply and Divide Fractions

In this activity, we will multiply and divide fractions.

 

Multiplying fractions is the easiest of all the operations.

We simply multiply the numerators together

and multiply the denominators.

 

 

Easy right?

 

It is not so straightforward when we divide!

1) We will rewrite it as a multiplication.

 

IMPORTANT!  - Dividing by 2/5 is the same as multiplying by 5/2

(They are the inverse of each other)

 

 

2) We multiply the numerators and the denominators.
