Electricity is something that we use all the time in our everyday lives.
Electricity flows around a circuit from the power source to the object it is powering, for example from the plug to the kettle.
Some materials allow this electricity to flow and other materials do not.
The materials that allow electricity to flow are called conductors. Metals are usually good conductors like these metal wires.
The materials that do not allow electricity to flow are called insulators. Glass, plastic and rubber are just a few examples of insulators.
Can you see that the metal wires are covered in plastic?
The plastic is the insulator which means that the cables are now safe to touch.
This activity will help us to learn about conductors and insulators.
