'Use Clues From Pictures to Answer Questions' worksheet

Key stage:  KS 1

Year:  Year 1 English worksheets

Curriculum topic:   Reading: Comprehension

Curriculum subtopic:   Use Previous Knowledge or Background Information

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

When we are reading, we can use clues from both the text and the pictures to help us to understand what we are reading.

For example, let's have a think about this question:

'Where do these penguins live?'

penguin in aquarium

Have a look at the clues in the picture before choosing one of these answers:

1) In the wild

2) In an aquarium

What did you go for? Looking at the picture, we can see that the penguins are behind glass and that there are children watching them. This tells us that they are more likely to live in an aquarium than out in the wild.

Let's have a go at using pictures to help us answer questions...
