A suffix is a letter or group of letters added to the end of a word. Knowing what a suffix means can help us to understand new words.
For example, if we add the suffix -ful to the end of a word it has the meaning of 'full of'.
A person who is hopeful is full of hope.
Remember that the suffix -ful only has one 'l' even though the word 'full' has two!
If the word ends in -y we have to change it to 'i' before we add the suffix.
