'Know Your Suffixes: -ful 1' worksheet

Key stage:  KS 1

Curriculum topic:   Writing: Transcription

Curriculum subtopic:   Add Suffixes to Words

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

A suffix is a letter or group of letters added to the end of a word. Knowing what a suffix means can help us to understand new words.

For example, if we add the suffix -ful to the end of a word it has the meaning of 'full of'.

A person who is hopeful is full of hope.

Remember that the suffix -ful only has one 'l' even though the word 'full' has two!

If the word ends in -y we have to change it to 'i' before we add the suffix.
