An apostrophe is a punctuation mark that has several uses.
One of these is to show possession.
For example, in this sentence, we can see that the hat belongs to the boy:
The boy's hat.
We have added 's to the noun (boy).
In this activity, we will look at using apostrophes to show plural possession. Plural means more than one of something.
Plural nouns usually (but not always) end in s.
girls
wolves
ponies
When we want to show that something belongs to more than one of something else, we add an apostrophe after s.
The girls' teacher
The wolves' lair
The ponies' stable
Remember that some plural nouns do not end in s.
children
people
In this instance, we add an apostrophe then s to show possession.
The children's shoes
The people's voices
