The audience took their comfortable, maroon, velvet seats. All of a sudden, the room went dark and the curtain began to rise.

To answer this question, we must use our prediction skills.

Prediction is where we make a clever and sensible guess about what happens next in a story based on the context of the story.

Using the context of the story means using clues from the story to help us. 

Here, the clues are audience, dark and the curtain rising.

We can predict that a show is about to start.

We may not know which type of show, but the clues tell us they are in a theatre.

In this activity, we'll be making sensible guesses about what might happen next in a text.
