Worksheet Overview

£3.45 means £3 and 45 pence.

Let's get started.

pizzza

Pizzas cost £3.50 each

If Sara buys two pizzas, how much change from £10 will she get?

First, we need to work out 2 lots of £3.50

£3.50 x 2 = £7.00

350 x 2 = 700p (£7.00)

Now, we subtract this from £10.00

£10.00 - £7.00

1,000 - 700 = 300 (£3.00)

Sara will get £3.00 change.

Let's look at another question.

Comics cost £1.80 and sweets cost 75p.

How much will two comics and one packet of sweets cost altogether?

Two comics will cost £3.60 (2 x £1.80)

Now, let's put both amounts into pence (p).

£3.60 = 360p (multiply by 100)

Now, add the two amounts:  360 + 75 = 435

435p = £4.35 (divide by 100)

Two comics and some sweets will cost £4.35
