Here we can see the numbers are increasing by 1,000

These are the multiples of 1,000

The last three digits will always be 000

 

What will the next number be?

 

4,000  5,000  6,000  7,000  8,000  ---

 

We need to add 1,000 to 8,000, which gives us 9,000

Remember the last three digits will be zeros.
